Tila.
Tila is an urban bench designed by Stéphane Chapelet for the French manufacturer MyWay®. Inspired by the cantilever in architecture, it seems to float in the air.
The cantilever, from architecture to bench
The studio wanted to create a highly innovative product inspired by the cantilever principle. The seat rests on one side only, and the rest seems suspended in mid-air.
A steel blade and a concrete seat
The concept: a thick steel blade on a solid support, carrying a concrete seat.
A floating seat
Tila seems to float in the air, especially when backlit: the light emphasises the void beneath the seat.
Developed with MyWay®'s engineering office
MyWay®'s engineering office made it possible to develop this technically demanding product. Tila is commercialized by MyWay® (France).
MyWay is the concrete street-furniture brand of the Prefac group, made in France.
MyWay presented the Tila bench among its new products for 2015, notably in the magazine traits urbains.
