Linka is a modular sofa designed by Stéphane Chapelet for .Mdd®, a very large Polish furniture manufacturer. Now a best-seller, it fits anywhere thanks to its modularity, its careful details and its minimalism.
The link as a starting point
The name Linka evokes the link, the starting point of the design. The idea: legs that assemble with a connecting piece. Each module attaches to the next, and the legs also hold accessories such as a table or USB charging ports.
Modularity, a studio signature
Modularity is a hallmark of the studio's work, which focuses on innovative products that combine with one another. It lets the product evolve over time and adapt to changing needs.
Square and triangular modules
The modules are compact, at 740 mm a side, so the sofa can be composed even in small spaces. Besides square modules, there are triangular modules that create serpentine layouts. Another original touch: the armrest also serves as a backrest.
Attention to detail, with .Mdd®
The collaboration with .Mdd® made it possible to push the detailing very far. The stitching brings out the product's shapes, and the side seams of the seat extend the lines of the legs. The brand's expertise allowed the studio to take the finish this far.
From offices to hospitality
The structure is powder-coated steel; the seat, armrests and backrests are foam with a plywood core. Linka suits offices, .Mdd®'s main market, as well as hotels and restaurants. .Mdd® runs a factory of more than 92,000 m² and exports to more than 60 markets.
