Wave.

Wave is an innovative urban bench designed by Stéphane Chapelet for Lab23® as an urban sculpture. Directly inspired by waves, it was first created for the port of Fontvieille in Monaco, which wanted urban furniture inspired by the maritime world.

An urban sculpture

Wave is designed as a totem: its highly recognisable form makes it a landmark in the city. It is an image product that helps the studio's partners stand out in a saturated market.

Born for the port of Fontvieille

For the complete redesign of the port of Fontvieille, the Principality was looking for furniture connected to the sea. The studio answered with Wave, whose curves evoke the swell, paired with Aveo planters. Several Wave benches stand in Monaco, and they can now be found all over the world.

Inspired by waves

As its name says, Wave follows the movement of waves. Its curves give it a soft, welcoming profile that invites people to sit facing the sea.

Comfortable and modular

Each bench seats four and is particularly comfortable. It is also modular: several Wave benches can be lined up to form long rows of seating along a quay, a promenade or a square. It can also be combined with the S-Combo bench-planter.

Hypergranite, made in Italy

Wave is made of hypergranite, a recyclable material composed of resin and quartz. After Monaco, it became a Lab23® catalogue product, made in Italy.

Lab23, an Italian manufacturer, makes street furniture in Italy from steel, Corten, wood and Hypergranite. It shows the studio's designs alongside those of Zaha Hadid, at Milan's Fuorisalone and in the specialist press.

This model belongs to Lab23's HyperGranit collection, presented in 2016 in the Italian magazine L'Arca International (issue 128).
