Wing.

Wing is an urban bench designed by Stéphane Chapelet for Lab23®, inspired by an aircraft wing. Its light seat seems to hover. It grew out of the studio's research into assembly: the seat slots into the structure.

A hovering seat

Like a wing, Wing's seat seems to float above the ground. The structure is slender and disappears, except where it rises through the seat: a detail that signs the bench's design. Its name comes directly from this aeronautical inspiration.

A steel plate and two wooden slats

The base is a single 10 mm steel plate, laser-cut and then powder-coated. The seat is made of two wooden slats that fit into the metal structure. Few parts, an obvious assembly: the result is innovative, modern and minimalist.

Three seats, a comfortable bench

At 2 metres long, Wing seats three. Its seat curves towards the centre, which makes it particularly comfortable.

Shipped flat, greener

Wing ships flat, which greatly reduces transport volume and therefore its environmental impact. A direct result of the work on assembly.

From streets to public places

Its modern, clean form fits a great many streets, as well as public places such as hotels, shopping centres and restaurants.

Lab23, an Italian manufacturer, makes street furniture in Italy from steel, Corten, wood and Hypergranite. It shows the studio's designs alongside those of Zaha Hadid, at Milan's Fuorisalone and in the specialist press.
