Kiosk.
Kiosk is a large, rounded urban pergola designed by Stéphane Chapelet for Lab23®. It is designed as a shared space in the city, with many functions.
A simple, protective form
The idea was to start from a simple, protective form, and the cylinder was the obvious choice. The lower cylinder answers the upper one, both in painted steel.
All metal
Notches join the top and the bottom with bolted aluminium slats that have a wood effect, applied by sublimation. Kiosk is therefore all metal, even though it combines two different metals. The result is a rigid, stable structure that can be taken apart for easier transport.
A shared space in the city
Under Kiosk, people can rest, co-work, share a moment, eat or simply take shelter. Designed for public squares, the pergola creates a calm atmosphere and offers people a break in the shade. Each pergola seats up to eight people, with comfortable seats and tables.
A connected pergola
Kiosk includes Wi-Fi connectors and charging points. It can also be energy-autonomous: solar panels on the roof power the USB chargers inside.
Modular
Several Kiosk pergolas can be combined into a modular ensemble, at the scale of a square, a forecourt or a park. Kiosk is made in Italy by Lab23® and has been available since June 2020.
Lab23, an Italian manufacturer, makes street furniture in Italy from steel, Corten, wood and Hypergranite. It shows the studio's designs alongside those of Zaha Hadid, at Milan's Fuorisalone and in the specialist press.
